One of the interesting question some believers ask today is not whether God is able to heal the sick, but whether God is willing to heal the sick? Is it God’s will to heal the sick?
When we need to know God’s will for a particular subject, then we need to go to God’s Word. Because the God’s word records the teaching and works of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the physical expression of Father’s will. His life and teachings are revelation of God’s will for us.
We can see in the scripture that when Jesus prayed for sick people all of them got healed. There were sick people who visited Jesus for healing and all of them got completely healed. None remained sick after that.
Jesus healed all sick people who came to Him.
Matthew 12:15 But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.
Matthew 14:36 and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.
Luke 6:19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
Matthew 8:16-17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick
Jesus healed all who came to him. Scripture says He is the same God yesterday –today-forever….
Jesus told no one that it is not God’s will to heal you. Jesus never told anyone that it is not the right time to heal you, come next week. Scripture says Jesus healed all.
We can see the continuation of same healing work by His disciples. Sick people approached Jesus disciples and the disciples healed them all. The disciples told no one that it is not God’s will to heal you or God does not want to heal you now.
Acts 5:16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Whatever Jesus did in his earthly ministry is perfect expression of Father’s will. The will of God is to heal the sick.
Many believers say ‘ I believe in healing, but I don’t believe it for everyone.’ People believe this (it is not God’s will to heal) probably for two reasons.
First – In Mark 1:40, a leper asked Jesus that if he is willing to heal him.
Among all who sought healing from Christ during His earthly ministry, there is only one who asked Jesus ‘if it is your will’. This outcast leper did not know what God’s will is – for healing the sick. So he asked Jesus- “if you are willing you can make me clean”
Mark 1:40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.
The first thing Jesus did was to correct his understanding by saying that He wills. And then he healed that person.
Jesus never said to anyone that it was not His will to heal. Moreover we find in the scripture “as many as approached Him were healed”.
Secondly- people do not see many getting healed by their prayers so they started believing this. We need to understand that God does the healing work not us. We need to have faith to operate in ministry of healing.
Matthew 17:14-21,
We can see the disciples in the initial days of their ministry were unable to heal a demon possessed boy. But the same disciples in the book of Acts can heal all sick people. They grew up in faith to heal the sick. We should not be frustrated if we do not see many getting healed.
There are many reasons why all are not getting healed by our prayer, but that does not mean it is not God’s will to heal all.
So, in conclusion God’s will is to heal all. We need to grow in faith to operate in this. Do not get discouraged if people are not healed by your prayer. We need to continue operate in faith and heal the sick.
