If you have received new life in Jesus Christ, then God wants you to live in holiness, and in the same time God wants to use you for His kingdom work. God wants you to share the gospel, heal the sick cast out demons. Sharing gospel is an important part of our lifestyle. In the New Testament scripture we can see Jesus Christ and his disciples were sharing gospel and in the same time healing the sick. Healing the sick is a part of sharing gospel. We know that God has given all believers the power and authority (Matthew 10:1, Luke 9:1) to do this. But we need proper training for this. Sometime you will come across sick people; sometime people may request you to pray for them. Some believers have some confusion about healing the sick. Now here are some useful understandings how you can effectively heal the sick.
1. First, bind your carnal mind that would doubt or fear in Jesus’ name. (Rom. 8:6-7)
2.Find someone who needs healing: Seek for a word of knowledge for the person or ask them if they have a particular pain or sickness in their body. (Some pain is hidden and you just need to ask people if they have sickness or pain).
3. Someone may ask you for prayer (James 5:14).
4.Lay hand and pray: It is always good, but it is not always necessary. God can work from near and far. You should ask for permission beforehand you do lay your hands.
5. Pray simple, clear and short prayers of command. God has given you authority and you are using it in prayer. You are not called to request God to heal.
Examples: “Pain, sickness, cancer, etc. we take authority over you and command you to go right now in Jesus name and.”
“Knee, be healed in Jesus name. Be restored in Jesus name.”
6. Some sickness is demonic, so during your prayer demon may manifest and leave the body.
7. After prayer, ask them how they feel about their sickness. You can check the sickness level (scale of 1 to 10) and pray accordingly. Some time you may have to pray repeatedly. There is nothing wrong if you pray for someone more than once. Jesus once prayed for a sick person (Mark 8:22-25) twice.
8. Praise God if the healing is complete or partial. And then you can share gospel or help him to come out from any other issues of life. Some time people have emotional issues and you can help them in those areas.
