How you can present the full gospel to the world? This is the question many of us have in our mind. Maybe you tried many ways over the last few years but you were not so effectively able to reach out to the world. Let us discuss the ideas of sharing the gospel.

          The centre theme of the bible is new life in Jesus Christ. Gospel helps us to receive new life in Jesus Christ and also to walk in newness of life. The meaning of the word “Gospel” is- good news. Before ascending to heaven, Jesus told his disciples to be a witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:6-11). In the great commission, Jesus told his disciples to share the gospel (Mt. 28:18-20). So making disciples is our primary job as disciples.  And the first step to make a disciple is to tell someone about Jesus.  You can’t make a disciple of Jesus unless you tell them the Gospel.

We can find in many places the Gospel is mentioned, like Paul the apostle mentioned gospel in (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Also in book of acts gospel is practically mentioned in many places (Acts 2:36-41, Acts 3:12-26, Acts 5:29-32, Acts 8:30-38, Acts 10:34-44, Acts 13:16-43, Acts 16:30-34, Acts 17:22-34).

Our presentation of the Gospel will differ from person to person, and situation to situation, but the main components remain the same. You can choose any method which you finds good but the main points should always be included. If you are missing one of the three main points then you are not sharing the right gospel.

Gospel has main three parts:

a. What is the problem- Sin

b. What is the solution –Jesus

c. What we have to do to receive it – Repent, baptized in Jesus & obey Jesus

a.       Problem- sin

How sin entered into the world

How we are sinful (Actual+ Adamic)

Any way out from sinful life

b.       Solution– Jesus

Why Jesus came and died in our place

Why Jesus only can take our sins away

c.       Application– Receiving

Repent – Baptized -Obey Jesus

How one responds to the gospel determines the destiny of the person. Whatever method you use, make sure the response you ask must be-  

1) Repentance, 2) Water baptism, 3) Holy Spirit baptism

Which way we should not react?

Sometimes we preach half the gospel by sharing to only believe. But the intellectual believing gospel doesn’t change you. Or maybe sometimes it ends up inviting people in a church service or a sinner’s prayer. But these are not the right way to lead a person into a born again experience.

o        Not sinner’s prayer

o        Not receiving Jesus in heart

o        Just telling people to believe in Jesus

o        Not just invitation to church service etc.

Now, what are the myths of sharing the gospel?

Sometimes believers are discouraged by others from sharing Gospel. They give reasons like –

o        You need to know many things from the bible/ need to be a mature Christian

o        You need to be very loving

o        You need to give hospitality

o        You need to call the person in your church building

o        If you are not able to answer any question etc.

It is true that you need to be loving, hospitable, having knowledge and able to answers from the bible but these are not the reason for which people should receive Gospel. People will respond to hearing the Gospel when they hear the right Gospel. We need to share the right Gospel that will touch their lives. We need to understand that the Gospel itself has power. It doesn’t need anything extra to convince people about the gospel.

Romans 1:16 for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

As we will share the gospel we will face the following –

Tough questions, Rejections, Persecution, Insults

You will be facing tough questions, but be humble and patient to answer them. If you do not know you can just acknowledge that you do not know. You can prepare the answer to all tough questions beforehand approaching a person with Gospel. You will be rejected, persecuted and insulted when you walk with Jesus and do his works (John 15:21). These will be very normal things for your new life.

In some cases, people are rejecting the message maybe because he has not understood it or maybe because he is having strongholds in his mind or some other fears.  

How to react to it?

– Try to understand why the listener is rejecting the message. Maybe he is having some stronghold.

– You can help him to understand his problem

–  You may leave him for some time and approach him again

–  You may have to avoid the person

We are also called to operate in the spirit. So during sharing the gospel, we can also heal the sick and deliver demonically. Some time healing the sick and delivering demonic opens the door for the person to receive Gospel. It is the Holy Spirit who convicts the person and helps the person to repent for sins and rebellion. So depending on the Holy Spirit guidance to share the gospel and lead the person to repentance.
