Hearing God’s voice

Hearing God’s voice- Part I:

There is one thing that God always requires from us. The requirement is to hear voice of the Lord. People who believe in God are marked by this characteristics that they hear God’s voice.  The primary requirement is hearing God’s voice.

Exodus 15:26 and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”

The requirement is to hear voice of the Lord. Here God says if you listen to me I will take care of your physical health. If we hear the voice of the lord we will receive healing.

Jeremiah 7:22-23 For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. 23 But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you that it may be well with you.’

Here God is saying I am not interested about offering and sacrifices. But I want them to obey my voice. But Israel did not do what God requires. So Jeremiah goes on

Jeremiah 7:24 Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

The main problem of Israel was they did not listen to the voice of the Lord. So they did not went ahead but went backward. They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.

In the new testament the requirement has not changed.

John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Hear it says Jesus is our shepherd. Our relation with Jesus is we follow him. We hear His voice and follow Him. His sheep know His voice and follows Him.

Jesus is not talking about denominations or religions. He is talking about His followers who hear His voice. Sheep follow the shepherd by hearing His voice. It is impossible to follow Jesus unless we hear His voice. What enable us to follow Him is hearing His voice. God called us in to a relationship where we need to hear His voice.

Mathew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

If you are not hearing from the mouth of the Lord you cannot live. Other way you may be a dead person as you are living without God’s voice. The word that is used here in original Greek is rhema. Te verb “proceeds” is continuous present tense. Every word as it proceeds from mouth of God. Hearing God’s voice makes a direct personnel relationship with God. For that given time that given situation God wants to speak to us. He was comparing word of God with natural bread. As natural bread feeds the natural body of Man, so proceeding word of God feeds spiritual being of man. It nourishes man’s spirit. To keep the natural body alive we need natural bread. For keeping our spirit alive we need spiritual bread.

What is the mark of a believer? He hears God’s voice.

Now this comes only through the Holy Spirit. Only Holy Spirit can bring word of God to us.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

What makes us son’s of God it is led by Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit works in our life in differtent ways. We are born of Holy Spirit.  That makes us a new born child. But that does not makes us mature. How to become mature by led by the spirit. God speaks in present. He secret of faith is God’s voice.

Romans 10:17 faith comes from hearing and hearing voice of Christ.

Faith comes from haring voice of Christ. When we hear word of God faith comes. Without faith you cannot receive anything from God. You need to have faith. We need to hear God’s voice daily.
