Our Christian life is not about only avoiding hell and carrying a bible rest of our life. Haring God’s voice is the way of our life. But how can we be sure. Here are three kinds of confirmation
1. Confirmation with scripture:- Holy spirit brings God’s word to us.
2 timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
That is Holy Spirit is the author of the scripture. The Holy Spirit is the one who speak it to us. The Holy Spirit never contradicts God’s word. The first way to be sure that it is from God does it agree with the scripture. If not it is not voice of the Lord. We must be very clever to reject all satan’s counterfeits.
2. An experience of peace and joy vs. an absence of peace and joy: God’s voice can produce God’s peace in our heart.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Let the peace of God rule your heart. When the peace of God is not there we need to be careful. God’s decision will follow God’s peace, thankfulness, dwelling of Christ, word of God.
3. Confirmation of circumstances:-
Jeremiah 32:6-8 And Jeremiah said, “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 7 ‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, “Buy my field which is in Anathoth, for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’ 8 Then Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the Lord, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption yours; buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.
Here God spoke to Jeremiah to buy the Land. And there after He confirms it by the circumstances.
4. Confirmation of other believers: Some time it happens to us. We hear God but we are not confirming about it. God wants us to confirm it through other believers.
5. We can hear from God, or from the enemy, our own flesh or from just a human. We need to discern who is speaking.
6. The voice of enemy can bring condemnation, fear, shame, guilt, anxiety, and fleshly temptation/desire.
7. As you renew your mind, you will be able to hear from God more clearly and understand spiritual things (1 Cor. 2:14-16).
8. Others may hear from God differently. So, don’t compare with others. Walk by your own faith.
9. Guidance Anxiety:- Too many Christians view God’s guidance as either a success-guarantee technique or as a pain-avoidance scheme. They are either focused on worldly success or are anxious about the future and want assurance that God will guide them.
God’s guidance is not:-
– Quick fix
– Biblical version of a tarot-reading/Fortunetelling.
– Guide from future failure
God’s guidance is the product of our close walk with Him.
